Soundtracking perception: APSD is an ongoing audiovisual practice exploring how music can alter the experience and interpretation of everyday environments.
After getting a portable EP-133 K.O. II sampler, I started creating my own “music for walking”: improvised beats and sequences that accompanied me through different environments. Walking, listening, photographing and sampling gradually became interconnected, with each place influencing the sounds I created and the music influencing how I interpreted the place.
These experiments eventually became APSD, an ongoing exploratory practice where music and visual work develop together. Each track receives its own visual identity through photography, collage and exaggerated editing, translating the atmosphere of the music into surreal, mysterious and sometimes otherworldly imagery.
Rather than separating music from the environment, APSD explores the space between them: how sound can become a lens for experiencing a place, and how a place can become material for sound.
